Trans-Tasman Resources, the privately-owned ironsands explorer, has appointed former prime minister Jenny Shipley and ex-Tata Steel executive Kirby Adams to its board.

Porter Novelli was the top New Zealand PR agency at this year's PRINZ Awards jointly winning the Supreme Award and Special Event/Project category for launch of the WilliamsWarn Personal Brewery.

 The top honours were shared with Louis Brown and Daniel O'Regan for their work with the Student Army helping to clean up Christchurch after last year's earthquake.

The judges praised Porter Novelli for innovative use of social media, and generating significant outcomes for WilliamsWarn on a small budget.

Katrina Troughton is Director of WebSphere Software Group for IBM's Growth Markets Unit, based in Shanghai, China. Katrina was previously Managing Director of IBM New Zealand, a role she held from October 2004 to March 2009.

 Katrina joined IBM as a graduate in 1990 and has held a number of senior roles in her career, including Managing Director of IBM New Zealand General Manager for IBM's Software business (the second largest software business in the world) across Australia and New Zealand, and Business Unit Executive for the Data Management business for IBM Asia Pacific.

Katrina chaired the New Zealand Government's Digital Strategy Advisory Group, which was responsible for advising key government Ministers on the overall direction of the Digital Strategy, including priorities for future action, areas for government attention, and how to engage stakeholders. She is a director of IBM New Zealand as well as a director of IBM Australia/New Zealand Holdings, and she is on the board of the American Chamber of Commerce and the advisory board for the Faculty of Commerce & Administration for Victoria University Wellington. Katrina is also a member of the IBM Australia/New Zealand Diversity Council and the Executive Sponsor for IBM Australia/New Zealand's Generational Diversity Strategy.

Katrina has a double degree in Science and Commerce from the University of Auckland with majors in Physiology, Pharmacology and Economics. She also has a post graduate diploma in Health Economics and a diploma in Direct Marketing.
