Trans-Tasman Resources, the privately-owned ironsands explorer, has appointed former prime minister Jenny Shipley and ex-Tata Steel executive Kirby Adams to its board.

Porter Novelli was the top New Zealand PR agency at this year's PRINZ Awards jointly winning the Supreme Award and Special Event/Project category for launch of the WilliamsWarn Personal Brewery.

 The top honours were shared with Louis Brown and Daniel O'Regan for their work with the Student Army helping to clean up Christchurch after last year's earthquake.

The judges praised Porter Novelli for innovative use of social media, and generating significant outcomes for WilliamsWarn on a small budget.

Mai_ChenMai Chen

Mai Chen is a founding partner of Chen Palmer New Zealand Public and Employment Law Specialists, Barristers and Solicitors. This firm has won Best Boutique Law Firm in 2010, and Best Public Law Firm in the New Zealand Law Awards every year from 2007 to 2011, and was a finalist in the Employment Law category in 2011.

As of 1 January 2011 Mai was also appointed Adjunct Professor in Commercial and Public Law at the University of Auckland Business School.

She is currently writing Public Law Toolbox for publication by Lewis Nexus in March 2012. Mai has published some 100 articles and conference papers and has contributed to seven books and major reports, mainly in the Public Law area.

Mai won Next Magazine's Woman of the Year Award in 2011.

Formerly a Senior Lecturer at Victoria University Law Faculty in Wellington, Mai also sat on the Securities Commission, on the Beachheads Programme of the New Zealand Board of Trade and Enterprise, the Asia New Zealand Foundation, the Advisory Board of AMP Life Limited (NZ), and she is Chair of the Advisory Board of New Zealand Global Women and President of the Harvard and New Zealand Alumni Association (NZ). Mai also sits on the New Zealand Law Society Public and Administrative Law Committee.

Mai was in the 2009 and 2010 Unlimited Magazine's Top Influencers List. She has a First Class Law Honours degree from Otago University, a Masters degreefrom Harvard Law School, is a Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of management, and an Honorary Associate of Auckland university of Technology.
