| Kerry Prendergast Chair of NZT |
|
Former Wellington mayor Kerry Prendergast has picked up another top board role as chairwoman of Tourism New Zealand. Ms Prendergast was appointed chairwoman of the new Environmental Protection Authority board in June. The New Zealand Tourism board, which trades as Tourism New Zealand, promotes New Zealand as a tourism destination. Prime Minister John Key, who has ministerial responsibility for tourism, said Ms Prendergast had the skills to lead the board in the effective promotion of tourism in New Zealand. "Kerry is dynamic and focused, with a passion for New Zealand that is the number one requirement in this position. She also has board experience and is a great communicator," he said. Mr Key said he looked forward to working with Ms Prendergast in his role as Tourism Minister. Ms Prendergast has been appointed for a three-year term after current chairman Greg Muir did not seek reappointment for his three-year term, which wraps up in July. She is also chairwoman of the New Zealand International Arts Festival Trust and the Wellington Jazz Music Festival Trust.
