Call for Nominations for Global Women Board of Trustees and Advisory Board 2012Global Women is accepting applications from candidates interested in serving on the Global Women Advisory Board and Board of Trustees. Three local and two international board members are ending their terms at end of February 2012, and under the terms of the Trust Deed we must call for nominations for the vacant positions. In 2012, five positions on the Advisory Board are open for election. It is intended that three of these will be appointed as Trustees and nominees are asked to specify their willingness to act as a Trustee. This will leave two Advisory Board members whom we seek to fill with international members or very senior NZ women who bring special expertise or knowledge to the Advisory Board but have less time available to commit as a trustee. Global Women is a not-for-profit organization founded in 2009 to provide leadership increasing opportunities for members by creating a diverse, supportive and elite network, locally, globally, and providing platforms to share experiences, wisdom and perspectives. Global Women is also committed to developing future leaders and changing the overall culture and environment in which women advance to leadership. Global Women has more than 130 organisational members. In 2012, Global Women’s operational budget will be $850,000. The Global Women Board of Trustees is responsible for the governance and leadership of the organisation, and its authority is derived from the organization’s trust deed. The members of the Global Women Board of Trustees are appointed by a majority vote of the Advisory Board. There are a maximum of 9 Trustees. The Advisory Board consists of 11 members that are elected by the members. Advisory Board members usually serve a 3 year term and can serve no more than two consecutive terms. This can be extended in unusual circumstances. Election Process – 2012 Global Women is therefore seeking the election of 5 members to the Advisory Board. It is intended that three of these members will also be appointed as Trustees. The term of the appointment shall be 3 years. To the extent there are more nominations than vacancies an election will be held at the AGM in Nelson on February 18, 2012. Time Commitment Trustees and Advisory Board members are expected to commit the time necessary to perform regular Trustee, Advisory Board and committee business. Members are also expected to allocate time to attend and prepare for meetings. There are four physical Advisory Board and Trustee meetings annually. Eligibility Candidates for the Advisory Board should have or be able to provide:
Use of Electronic Mail All formal communications between Global Woman Secretariat and the organisational members related to nominations will use electronic mail.
