We are a young country. This hui will provide a unique opportunity for us as leading women who are part of the global women’s movement to reimagine the skill sets and the mindset we will need to shape the future successfully for ourselves, our families, our organisations, and our nation.
The year 2040 will mark 200 years since the signing of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, an important year for Aotearoa, New Zealand. It will also be nearly 150 years since women were given the right to vote. New Zealand became the first self-governing country in which all women had the right to vote.
As we look to the future, it is right that we host the 2024 Annual Members Hui at Waitangi, the place where much of New Zealand’s history has been shaped through the establishment of a vibrant New Zealand economy where Māori and Pakeha were actively in the centre of it, where our first centre of government was established, where the signing of the Declaration of Independence: He Whakaputanga took place in 1835, where Hobson made the proclamation and the Treaty of Waitangi: Te Tiriti o Waitangi was signed in 1840 committing us all to work together, and where the first of the Māori wars broke out when the promises that were made were not met.
Our hui will invite us to see ourselves in the context of the treaty, challenging each of us to consider the knowledge, commitment, insight, and aspirations we might have in bringing the treaty to life in our everyday work, our personal attitudes and contribution to community and nationhood outcomes.
Our hui will also inform and challenge us on our global obligations as women leaders.

General Information
Hui is our 2-day/2-night members only event at the Waitangi Treaty Grounds from Thursday 23 May until Saturday 25 May 2024. We will start at 10am on May 23th with a powhiri and conclude on Saturday at 11am after a light breakfast.
Members are responsible for their own flights and accommodation – we have negotiated Global Women rates for accommodation – please see details here.
